May Day! May Day! More UK Cinemas

FURTHER SCREENINGS FROM FRIDAY MAY 1st

“It’s ‘geet lush’ that the Odoen Silverlink is hosting Waveriders again this week.  The North East isn’t the biggest surfing population in the North East, but they are the most dedicated!  The last screenings up there sold out, so its the Odeon is showing further support for this film, which brings the ocean to the big screen!”   - Gabe Davies

The Waverider’s Team are delighted to announce new dates for UK cinemas opening this Friday.

“we need a sharpie, a lighthouse and a needle and thread”

“Congratulations on threading together a beautifully told story” from an audience member at last night’s preview screening.

Thanks Maretta and all the staff in the Lighthouse!

We’re back in Dublin and the film is released IN CINEMAS today across Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. Aaagghhh the excitement.

TV 3 this morning, and after a few friendly post-screening pints in the South William pub last night, a touch of their make-up was required. Richie was looking a bit blurry! We’re heading out to UCD Surf Club this avo to get a lecture in “how to surf”, sign a few posters and give away quite a few t-shirts, many thanks to Alice for organising this, we’ll see you very soon.

Have a look at Six-One news tonight, Sile on TnaG this afternoon and then RUN to your local cinema.

Yes, the game continues….

Perhaps unexpected but a rendition of gregorian chant by Brother Richie started our morning, inspired by a mean breakfast!

Very reluctant to leave but Sligo was calling, so Sista’s Lauren & Aideen, Brothers Gabe & Robert, Father Joel made our way along the N17 to Outerpoint surf shop in Sligo, Hi and particular thanks to Gary! Another great afternoon (which included a random kiss!) then got a take-out ham sandwich and went… we could hear waves whispering from the coast. Strandhill. Surf.

Another full house in the Gaiety Cinema, again thanks Paul. A really good questions and answers session followed the screening. Congratulations from the audience were graciously received by ‘the team’ as the production was applauded and the successful teamwork recognised.

Little did this man know of the underlying tensions in relation to a certain now-daily event as an outstanding performance was delivered by Joel in “I bet you can’t open the window competition”, some controversial maneuvers anticipated tomorrow if discussions this evening were anything to go by.

“You’ve made an epic here”

Audience member at post screening discussion.

Thursday 1st April, Gaiety Cinema, Sligo

Galway Insanity!

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

“BOOM! Galway has been good! Another day on the road after an early start, somehow Richie and his extremely outrageous impersonations of Robert (who by the way has been doing all the driving in our van around Ireland - not done yet Sunshine!) kept us highly entertained from dawn till dusk! After only 2/3 hours sleep each last night, too excited to sleep, we booted it to Galway, and we raced into another radio studio, Galway Bay FM, thanks Keith and Ciara, despite high speed reversing and near scrapes!

Success as Richie and Gabe, the dastardly duo, land into their seats just in time, a quick gurn from Richie, a strict telling off from Keith and then into the film details. Done!

“So we have some freetime off now?” You must be joking, 15 minutes of a break and then on to Bridget at NUIG Surf Club, who organised a fantastic free-styling signing session in the common area, thanks Bridget and thanks to everyone who came in, we all really enjoyed it, and hope you like the photos.

Levels of exhaustion are countered by comedy impressions, outright slander and the ” I bet you can’t open the window” competition which Lauren was quite good at, Richie still in last place!

An excellent Q&A in The Eye Cinema, thanks Neasa!

Cheese burgers, iced buns and and couple of refreshing beverages! We’re moving onto SLIGO tomorrow and hope to see y’all there! Delirium definitely winning, Ah well as they say” anywhere but in good company” Couldn’t be better!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAUREN!!!! ”
