I think it is phenomenal to see the growth of surfing in Ireland as a lifestyle and a sport..I grew up in dublin in the 70s 80s and 90s,now live in the usa[west coast]I loved every trip to the west of ireland with my plank on the roof of the car…i loved the freezing water and the pure madness of it all..Now on trips home with kids its simply mecca to at least spend 3 days in the west enjoying old memories..i am so impressed that we have epic riders and film makers who want to put Ireland on the map and show the rest of the world just how cool our great country is…Bravo!
us ‘aul fellas need inspiration to get on our boards…
I would love a Waveriders T-shirt or DVD so i can spread the word as i have already been doing about this amazing documentary and its roots. Ok we may not have the best weather in Ireland but we have perfect conditions for some great surf and as the boys have shown in Waveriders, Big Wave Surfing at its best.
I think i should win some of the waveriders goodies because my wife keeps hidding or lending out my extreme sports dvds and all my cool surf clothing she shrinks in the wash, i wear an xl size tee and when it comes out of the wash it might just fit action man. She lends out my paddleing, surfing and paintball dvds to her family but never gets them back. If i am lucky enough to win any of the waveriders goodies you can bet that the wife will not get her hands on them. So please help me to win
I would love to win the DVD because I cant Swim or Surf after a long time trying and so the only way I can enjoy the water and waves is by watching it on DVD
The Scenes look amazing!
Love this film… would love a copy of the DVD.
I have been hearing from my friend that Richie has phenomenal pecs - so I really want to see what all the fuss is about. Please send me a DVD.
My middle name is Extreme .. just ask the people I work with! I should win the waveriders DVD because i will simply never ever get involved in big wave surfing, but it would look great on my telly
I want to be inspired to go surfing and I want something warm to wear after. Please give ME the DVD and T-Shirt!
i would love the dvd because it would help me improve my technique.. a t shirt would make me look cool in the pub!
Hey, I’m learning how to surf and wasn’t able to see this in the cinema but have heard great things. Would love a copy please
I want it I want it cos by watching the DVD I can sych myself up before hitting the waves myself. It’s like i’ll have the DVD on in the background while meditating and envisioning myself on my board conquering the unruly currents. Music to my ears. What an deadly video all the same wherever you watch it, best with a bunch of mad mates and beers.
You should give me one, after 40 years of avoiding Surfing, I’m finally considering having a go and I like to know the lingo and how to say ” dude ” and stuff..also I have loads of freckles like a real surfer
Cause the recession is here and I cant afford it
To QUOTE JULIAN COPE COZ I’m SAFESURFER DARLING
In a blatant attempt to sway the judges using my children, I’m in Tramore (T-Bay as it brands itself), the kids are surfing mad well at least body boarding mad and in every day despite the weather, evenings are spent watching DVDs on my laptop in a mobile home, Waveriders would make a welcome break from “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” and inspire my two lads (pictured in this link if it works) ages 7 and 5!

I think I deserve this dvd AND t-shirt because I lent my wetsuit to a friend recently and it came back stinking of wee, covered in sand, inside-out, and missing a bootie, not a happy camper!
GIMME GIMME…I fell 7 feet off a ladder and landed on my back…it hurts alot and bending to the right is no longer an option! The pharmacies are all closed and I can’t get no neurfen….ahhh comme onnnnn!
Hi
I deserve it becaus I have to work all weekend and would get to enjoy the great outdoor with my beutiful wife and Daughter :o(
I’d love a t-shirt cos I wouldn’t feel right watching the DVD I’m going to win in anything else!
I grew up in Galway in the 60s, spent much time at Fanore/Lahinch/Spanish Point and then took up windsurfing in the late 70s. I wanted to take my teenage kids to this film but it never reached our nearby town (we live 100 meters from the sea with the boards in the front garden so I don’t mind too much not having a cinema in the village). That’s my son on my website being wiped out by a wall of white water
If you send me a DVD then I will enjoy showing it to them and I hope my old-timer commentary does not spoil the film for them!
Would cherish either of these gifts as a great reward and inspiration for my son Max, who just today completed his first windsurfing and watersports camp here in Galway. He loved every minute of it, and can’t wait to get his own gear and take his skills to the next level as a waverider!! What a great sport–ecologically sound, great for the Irish economy if we can all help spread the word about our great conditions here, and a wonderful way to raise our kids not as Playstation zombies, but as true OUTSIDERS!!
I would love to win the waveriders DVD or tee shirt because it would be nice to win some thing as I dont think holding out for the lotto is going to work.
would love a t shirt. the film really inspired me to take up surfing - the t shirt would make sure i looked great. ha ha ha.
Would love to win because I’m recently unemployed, can’t sit down properly since yesterday’s cycle, got a black eye the one time I tried surfing and my dog kept me awake last night. Sniff.
I would love the free stuff because my horoscope told me that i’d win it..
Don’t make my horoscope look stupis..
Also if you don’t…the bunny gets it..
Cos I’m having a surfing lesson tomorrow, I’m going on a surfing weekend next week & I’m also going surfing the following weekend, and seemed as I havent been once yet this summer I think it’s a sign! Basically when it comes to surfing I’m really crap & can hardly ever stand up - at least with the t-shirt I’ll look shit hot & with the dvd I’ll be talking the talk… so nobody will notice my dire lack of ability!
I would love a Waveriders T-shirt or DVD or anything! I would wear it to work everday! (the t-shirt that is…) And I work all the time in the outdoors so loads of people would see them. Oh and if you’ve any stickers ill plaster my van with them. And Ive to work all weekend so won’t get a chance to get on the water
I am an avid - not the same as a good
surfer and t-shirt wearer. I will wear this t-shirt religiously, promoting Waveriders around the World. I must be the only Irish surfer who haven’t seen the movie and would like to see what all the hype has been about.
I should win a cool T-shirt (size L) and DVD for many reasons: 1. I live in Rosnowlagh, the land of the surfer. 2. I had 2 interviews last week and got a phone call this morning offering me BOTH jobs! so a cool t-shirt will just make a great day a brillant day.
3. I never win anything.
Thank-U
I am too frustrated about not kitesurfing, or even surfing because all my stuff is in France and fortunatly I have a TV and DVD reader at home. So, yes I definitively need this Waveriders DVD !
I think I should win the goodies because the recession has forced me to sell one of my surfboards to pay for lifes neccesities :P…….. winning will help me cope with the loss!
I’m a Director of Photography and am delighted to see an Irish surfing film take on the world!!!!
I would love to win the dvd and t-shirt because I love surfing alot whether it be in a kayak or on a board and have grown up surfing around the sligo and donegal areas. My favourite places to surf are bundoran in donegal and enniscrone in sligo. This year i couldn’t surf because i didnt have a board and couldnt afford to rent one. It would make my summer to win because even though i cant be out surfing i can still enjoy it on the telly. I haven’t even seen waveriders yet so it would be sweet to and a t-shirt would be an added bonus!!
I would like to win because I have not tried surfing YET! The winning would be a great encouragement, but I am sure I will start anyway!
Water clears my mind from all the hustles of the day - either swimming or kayaking in the sea.
MAKE WAVES, NOT WAR
In fairness to win anything is always good, but a waveriders dvd or tshirt, now come on, other than a free pint what else could be better?
Because I’m broke…Don’t live near the sea anymore and sold my surfboard
Give a man a surfboard, and you’ve distracted him for a day. Teach a man to surf, and you can’t get him to work
JOKE:
4 guys are discussing how they get their wives to let them surf every Sunday morning. The first says “Every Saturday night I take my wife out to an expensive dinner”. The second says “Every Saturday I clean the house for my wife”. The third says “Every Saturday I let my wife go shopping and she can buy whatever she wants.” The fourth guy looks at the other three and just shakes his head. “You guys got it all wrong.” On Sunday morning I get up at 5:00am, shake my wife and say surfing or intercourse?
Hope i made you guys giggle, I love surfing the SW of Eire, The temps and the stunning back drops make me feel Alive.P.S would luv a hoodie and the new waveriders DVD Please!xxxxxxxxxx
Coz I’m fed up of watching all this GAA on the TV every weekend. Could do with a change.
I want to win the DVD so i can watch that dreamboat Ritchie Fitzgerald in slow motion. Seriously though, great movie about great surf, brilliantly produced. Fantastic to see Ireland producing surfers and surf movies of this calibre. Fair play to all involved. Inspirational.
because i LOVE free stuff.
I need the t-shirt cos I have the hair, the sunglasses, an array of hemp necklaces and instant recall of all noted Point Break quotes- “Utah! Get me two!” I also have been known to stand on a surfboard from time to time. I feel wearing such a sought after garment will help plug my credibility gap until my surfing prowess catches up cos at present my ego is writing cheques my body can’t cash!
cause i got the august surf blues and jonesing for a surf fix … living on the dingle peninsula surf mecca with breaks facing all kinds of directions unable to pick up the non existent swell, last decent surf session was a month ago! thinking of going to the dark side (windsurfing), help me! … roll on september or a killer dvd and tee shirt to ease the pain.
I need the t-shirt and DVD cause since Ive been living in Switzerland, I am sick with lonesomeness for Irish surf and have even resorted to sieving Youtube to find clips. Which is where I came across the Waveriders one! Coming from Kerry and having surfed some of the greatest spots in Europe and South America, there is nothing compared to the ruggedness and beauty of sitting on a little board facing those awesome cliffs in the total tranquility and freshness that is the Irish Atlantic.
Cause I’m keepin the faith - washing my old TeeShirts in Surf Non-Bio, and that guy Flo Rida does my head in. Take me back to the Pixies on a Wave of mutilation ! My kind of Surfin’ USA.And hey the names Gerry not Charlie -and we all know ” Charlie don’t Surf !
Gerry, Cork.
Well I live here in Tramore where it is great for surfing. I would love to try it but am afraid I make a fool of myself. So put me out my misery and give me the DVD and let me wear the t-shirt.
Would love the t-shirt and/or dvd because I’m stuck in an office, looking out the window and living for the weekends in the west. The DVD and t-shirt would keep me sane while I’m stuck in suburbia!!
Will use either in the depths of winter to inspire me to open the curtains and get off the sofa,
